                          Making Room For The Gospel

People make room for the things they love - like photography, or a spouse, or children or work or alcohol or books or sports or sleep or God.  People will make the most room for that which they love and delight in the most.  When I delight in my wife, I am motivated to make choices that will make her happy and make much of her - flowers, dinner out, alone time, loving looks and touches.  I make room for her with my resources (time, money and space) so that they might be invested in her because she is worthy of them.  For the Christian, Jesus is of supreme worth and we make much of him by making room in our lives so that our lives and resources might be supremely invested in him and for him.

Making room for the Gospel of Jesus might not seem like something we would need to focus on.  But, in consumeristic America where over loaded schedules has led to a burdened pace of life, people are increasingly being faced with a significant challenge of making room for God and his gospel of grace on Sunday mornings, let alone in the rest of their Monday through Saturday lives. Economic unrest, pressures from work, family struggles, children's school and extracurricular activities add to an already demanding pace of life that often exceeds the human's capacity to maintain and often results in major life breakdowns.  The vital question for us today is,

"What choices do I need to make today in order to keep Jesus and his gospel at the center of my story?"

Over the last few years, River Rock has focused on hospitality as a key practice in making an invisible God visible by making room in our lives for him and others.  River Rock invites you to join others who are striving to make more room for the Gospel of Jesus so that we might flourish as the people he designed us to be.

We would be thrilled to have you join us as we spend the first half of the year looking at vital topics through the lens of the gospel of Jesus Christ in a series called Gospel Transformation - topics including God's Hiddennes, Election, End Times, Hell, Media, Prayer, Justice, Evangelism, Doubt, Heaven, Miracles and more. This time promises to be a great opportunity to shape our understanding of God's amazing story of grace and how we fit into his divine drama.  The second half of the year we will go through the book of Romans in a series called The Power of the Gospel.  Romans, in my humble opinion, is the greatest explanation of the gospel of Jesus ever written and I am confident that it will strengthen and deepen our faith and love for God through his Son Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

May 2009 be a year in which Jesus Makes All Things New in your life through the transforming power of the gospel of Christ.

Worship

Worship

We exist to enjoy God. Because of this, we gather together for worship regularly and are learning to see our work, play, education, child-rearing, involvement with local and world politics, in others words, our entire lives, as our acts of worship.

Life Groups

Life Groups

Developing relationships with other people is one of the most beautiful things we can do. It is also one of the most difficult. Because of this, we work hard on getting everyone at River Rock involved in a weekly small group meeting.

Youth

Youth

Our youth ministry exists to nurture a passion for God and engage young people in the mission of God. Our youth ministry engages adolescents in the processes, practices, and activities meant to nurture, support, and deepen their spiritual lives.

Church Planting

Church Planting

We believe healthy churches help their communities flourish. Because of this, we wholeheartedly participate in a regional Church planting movement. Solomon’s Porch in El Dorado Hills is our first daughter church.

Missions

Missions

We exist to show and tell people about the good news of the kingdom of Jesus. We want to do this at home, in the Sacramento region, but also abroad. Currently we partner with an orphanage in Honduras.
