RIVER ROCK CHURCH: REFORMED IN DOCTRINE . . . . REFORMING IN DEED Welcome! The most important things we do at River Rock is proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ on Sunday morning and then striving to live it out the rest of the week. We call this dual emphasis,"gospel in word and gospel in deed." Each is like a wing on an airplane. If one wing is absent or too small, the plane will not be able to fly, even if everything else is functioning well. We invite you to join us as we continue to soar into God's future by passionately worshiping him, connecting in life-giving relationships with others and being transformed into credible image bearers of Jesus as we live lives of love and mercy and grace. Currently,the "gospel in word" wing is focusing on the book of Romans in the New Testament. The book of Romans is all about God's salvation of his people. In the first eight chapters, Paul teaches us how one is saved - by faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. And this is all because of God's great grace toward us. Chapters 9-11 talk about who is saved and why. In this section, Paul spends much time on God's sovereignty - his complete control and power over the destinies of all people without neglecting our accountability. And this is all because of God's great mercy toward us. In chapters 12-16, Paul talks about what a saved life looks like in real, everyday kind of living. He ultimately points us to Jesus as the one who shows us what a saved life looks like. And this is all because of God's great love for us. We will be navigating chapters 9-11 from June 20 until August 22, take a short five week break from Romans as we engage a series aimed to both encourage us and challenge us in our daily living as followers of Jesus, and then begin Romans12, which will take us all the way to an Advent series starting November 28. We trust you will find River Rock to be a place of hospitality and community - a place where you can grow in your faith and contribute with the strengths God has given you - a place to belong and be needed - a place to worship and be discipled.  Worship We exist to enjoy God. Because of this, we gather together for worship regularly and are learning to see our work, play, education, child-rearing, involvement with local and world politics, in others words, our entire lives, as our acts of worship.  Life Groups Developing relationships with other people is one of the most beautiful things we can do. It is also one of the most difficult. Because of this, we work hard on getting everyone at River Rock involved in a weekly small group meeting.  Youth Our youth ministry exists to nurture a passion for God and engage young people in the mission of God. Our youth ministry engages adolescents in the processes, practices, and activities meant to nurture, support, and deepen their spiritual lives.  Church Planting We believe healthy churches help their communities flourish. Because of this, we wholeheartedly participate in a regional Church planting movement. Solomon’s Porch in El Dorado Hills is our first daughter church.  Missions We exist to show and tell people about the good news of the kingdom of Jesus. We want to do this at home, in the Sacramento region, but also abroad. Currently we partner with an orphanage in Honduras.
