Each person has been created, equipped and empowered by God to better the world they live in.  Everyone has been gifted by God and is born with certain strengths and abilities they are to use to nurture and develop the physical world around and relationships with others.  A primary place to do that is in your vocation. Work is not a curse as many would like to believe but it has been cursed by God because of Adam's sin.  Thus, work is difficult but something that God had created before sin entered the world and it is therefore a normal part of God's creation and plan for humanity.

Many people take a job for the money and not becasue it fits their giftedness and this will undoubtedly lead to frustration, tension, anxiety, burnout and bitterness.  If you are experiencing any of these signs in your vocation, it is most likely because you are working outside of your giftedness for extended periods of time. 

This is also true for serving in the church. People are designed by God to use their gifts within the church setting as well. Those who are serving out of guilt or coerced motives in areas outside of their giftedness, will be experiencing the same signs. It is imperative then that people discover or affirm their giftedness and be encouraged and led to use them in areas appropriate to their maturity and circumstances.
